In watching LOST one day I thought to myself, why did they give Terry O’Quinn red hair in his flashbacks…it looks a tad ridiculous, I just do not see him as a redhead. Of course, we all know that Emily Locke (his mother) has beautiful red curly hair, so I assumed that they made Locke’s hair red to sort of link him to his mother.
Then Charlotte Lewis appeared on the island, I didn’t think much of her until Miles suggests that she was on the island once before. Later, while everyone is planning their escape from the island, Charlotte confides to Daniel that she has been looking for where she was born and would like to stay on the island.
So many redheads…we all know the writers of LOST barely (if ever) do these sorts of things for no reason, I think the two are blood related for the following reasons.
1. The Obvious: They have similar features, Emily, John & Charlotte all have red hair and blue/light eyes. Red hair is pretty rare…just sayin’.

1. Locke to the Island: As we recently found out ‘The Others’ have been trying to get Locke to the island for some time now. If Charlotte has been on the island before, perhaps they wanted the two to reunite for whatever reason.
2. Similar Abilities: While Locke shuns his scientific side, Charlotte seems to have embraced it. Perhaps by combining Locke’s scientific smarts and Charlotte’s knowledge of culture, they could’ve done some amazing work on the island.
3. They both want to stay on the island for similar reasons. Others are staying for the island’s healing properties, others for safety concerns, but Locke & Charlotte seem to be ‘at home’ on the island…not only in the sense that they have found a home, but in the sense that the island is where they were supposed to be the entire time.
The strongest part of it is their looks, but I think as season 5 enters we’ll start to notice more and more similarities between the two.
