ok....lost is a program...yes like a computer program. the whole island was made as a test for what was going to become "Paridise Island" where somehow, someway, life would be perfect. that is why people are healed from cancer, or can now walk like John. they (Darma)
somehow found a way of curing all sickness.
Also, The Black Smoke is a file/program that can be controled, like Ben did after his dauhter was killed in a few episodes ago. it is NOT jacob, though jacob is also part of the island/program. the black smoke can change into anything at all. it was made so that if you were on this "paradise island" that you could see someone you loved that had passed away or someone you would love to have with you.
of cource now it is being used as something different but that was it's main goal and task in the first place.
when they said that they needed to move the island, what they needed to do is change the door out of it (the island). of course there is a secret way off the island, through a portal like thing. thats why at the end of seseon 2 or 3, it showed people in antartica. the door/portal ended in antartica and they moved it somewhere else, unkown right now.
when Ben had talked about changing the rules, there are rules that the makers/founders of the island know about and have layed down so things wouldn't get out of hand.....and of course they ended up doing so. but one of them is that you can not kill another founder or founders family... that is why ben thought that the rules were broken when his daughter was killed, and that is why Ben could not kill that man in bed that one night..he is a founder....ben wants to kill him, but he cant. Ben has killed off the whole Darma In. which is what that man in bed what running and was the boss of. and hide the island away for him self by putting a camo field around it. that is what the plane hit and crashed the very begining....
