Who in most cirumstances would hate to see Charles Widmore getting what he wants (the island) apart from Ben.

Desmond. who is Jacob.
There is speculation that Desmond could be in the coffin but why only Jack at the funeral. Desmond was pretty unknown and is very independent at his own will shown through his flashbacks. Hurley is in looney toons, Sayid I am suprised but hes a maverick rogue killing people hell bent on stuff not having much time for a funeral service, Sun is all the way in Korea doing some crazy stuff stealing a company and Kate is in court who probably didn't care too much for him.
Desmond has to be a secret or else there would be more publicity just like keeping the island a secret.
So to the Jacob situation, the eye in the cabin is the only corresponding evidence to if it is Desmond.
So here to the meat and potatoes. Desmond has to employ Ben as a chosen one to stop Widmore reaching the island for the time being but things start to get personal and Jacob/Desmond doesnt like this and is even more extremely infuriated that Ben tries to kill Locke thus bad things to Ben. Tell me... who actually boughts the oceanic flight down - Desmond. He is the one trying to stop Widmore.
Oh yea Abaddon is Walt by the way, but thats obvious.
Alpert is part of this time-travel stuff although I think he is dead.
