There's been a lot of speculation of who's been in the coffin lately, but i deeply believe that it is going to be Desmond. And here's why..
In a recent episode, Desmond says, "I'm never stepping foot on that island again." and believe me i don't blame him. But he's also not one of the Oceanic 6 since he wasn't on the plane. I believe that both him and Jin will die as a result of a C4 explosion, while Michael gets away somehow since he can't die yet. Even though Desmond is one my favorite characters this season after "The Constant," i have my doubts that we may never get to see the Denny reunion party. Here's another tidbit that i would like to throw out there. Do you remember when Jack goes to the Funeral Parlor at the end of Season 3 last year? Well when it zooms out on the coffin, it shows the coffin, but you can clearly see a book laying next to it on a table. Now i don't think Michael is much of reader so I'm ruling him out unless its another death note to Walt. But throughout the series when we've seen Desmond, he's always got this book that he says he's going to read before he dies. Well something tells me! that if he dies he won't have the time to read the thing now will he. when Jack's asked "Friend of Family?" he says neither just so that guy didn't ever ask questions. I also believe that when Ben's talking to Sayid in Iraq and he says, "You remember you friend Desmond?" i believe that he's talking about him as if he's dead. But.. Anyway those are the reasons why i believe its Desmond now let me tell you why it isn't anyone else.
MICHAEL
It can't be Michael, and here's why. The biggest reason of them all is that after practically two seasons of being off the show i don't think that the writers would bring the guy back for like four episodes. Its just not what they would do. Secondly Michael can't die yet because he hasn't fulfilled his destiny. Which is what?!?!?! But for the most part i got a feeling there's going to be an awkward Michael/Abbadon meeting where Abbadon's like, "Hello Dad." and Michael like craps his pants. If its Michael i think he was cheated, but if it is than oh well, he wasn't really doing anything productive as of last besides fixing an engine. P.S. if i was Jin and some dude just killed two chicks, I would've beat the crap out of him, but thats just me.
SAYID
Now here's why Sayid can't die and heres also why Sayid wasn't at the funeral. We all know that Sayid becomes a flippin Mercenary in the future, because of his wife's mysterious murder, but he doesn't die and here's why. Sayid, and every other member of the Oceanic Six, can't die because the island wont let them. They have to get back to the island, that's their destiny. But besides that Sayid has to get revenge for his wife whether it be Widmore or his daughter. Which brings me to my next point. I believe that eventually when it comes down to it, Sayid's going to pull the trigger on Penny. This is going to be very painful to him since he knows he just killed his friend's love, but he has to do what he has to do. If i were him i couldn't have come to the funeral either. If he did things would've got very emotional and besides i don't think Jack and Sayid see things eye to eye anyway but there's that.
BEN
All right I'm gonna say this once, if you think that Ben Linus even has the capability of dying, you should just kill yourself right now cause it aint happening ever
LOCKE
Locke is going to do whatever he has to do to save the island. and possibly the island's gonna do whatever it has to do to save Locke. Now everyone also knows that Locke's going to be the new Ben as leader of the island, so that automatically rules him out. Also, in cabin fever i believe that Mr. Abbadon made it very clear that he and Locke are going to meet again one day. And unless that counts Locke meeting walt after the crash, then i don't think Locke's dying anytime soon.
JULIET
Now it could be here, but i just can't think of why. I really don't see her as major part of this show anymore, and so much so that if she is the one to appear in the coffin, it'll just be disappointing. But her ben still have things to work out and she still needs to get off the island and see her sister/newphew so there's that.
JIN
Can't be him because his funeral has already occurred in Korea obviously.
RICHARD
Once again cant die, he's immortal
So basically i really can't think of anybody else other than Desmond that it could be and if any of yall have some ideas, feel free to comment
