I believe Jacob is Jack from the future. I believe Jack in the future finds a way back to the island as an old man but in wishing to have never left the island goes back to a time before the island is ever discovered and manipulates events to keep himself from ever leaving the island as a young man, but no matter how many times he does this he can't change the correct flow of time so he is doomed to repeat himself forever. Here are some reasons why i believe this theory. #1 When Locke first meets Jacob; Jacob tells Locke to help me I believe he meant help me keep my past self or Jack on the island. #2 Jacob didn't heal Bens tumor because he knew his past self or Jack would do it. #3 Jack has a bad habit of always wanting to fix things. I believe the events that are taking place in lost are Future Jack or Jacob trying to fix things to keep himself on the island. #3 Jack is a surgeon who helped his ex-wife Sarah walk again and cured ben of his tu! mor. Jacob can obviously heal having helped Locke walk again and curing Rose of her cancer. #4 Jacks tattoo reads "He walks amongst us but he is not one of us." This would make sense if he was the leader of the Others but not one of them. according to Achara, it signifies that he is a leader, but that being one makes him "lonely, and frightened, and angry". #5 The only people to be seen in Jacobs cabin besides Jcob himself have been Jacks father and sister. Those are some of my main reasons here are a few quickies: the Jacob of the bible is the first person to call God a shepard, and the name Jack can be derived from the name Jacob.
