Is this theory the answer to the show? Probably not, but it sure is fun. I was talking with my wife the other day about how the storyline has changed from Season 1 to now. I mean we started out by understanding the people and there backstories. Then after last night it hit me as to how relevant and necessary it was for us to see the human sides. Poor John, never accepted, not the Hunter, Sports jock, GQ male he wants to be. No he is so much more, but he refused to see it. Ben told us who John was in season 2......He is a GREAT MAN. TPTB said that they knew HOW Jacob would be portrayed. They even said "Notice how we worded that". Then on the season 3 DVD extras and the mother's day podcast they talk about the Dali Lama. John is Jacob reincarnate. It is a cycle, it always has been. I agree with Doc Jensen's article on the Homepage. Except for the testing part.
I believe Richard wanted 5 yr. old John to remember the objects that wer! e and are his. They were his in a previous life. I think Ben was a course correction, a fill in, until John found his destiny and accepted it. John is one of a long list of Island Dali Lamas. Now do not get me wrong, Ben is very important. He has changed many things, has caused many problems. When Ben used his position for a personal reasons the Island reacted. I believe this caused the fertility issues. Ben in all his speeches is in need, in need of love, in need of family. Is Jacob the great power....no, he is great and can do extraordinary things but he is not the power, neither is Smokey. The Smoke is part of something great, I tend to agree with the Djinn theory, but it is not the power. The power is the rules that Ben and Widmore must play by to an extent, It is the Wheel of time, The Dark Tower, the center of all things, the Island. Another character that should be mentioned is Abaddon. I agree also he was probably a slave on the Black Rock. However I d! on't think he works for Widmore, I believe he is a course corr! ector, i n the same line as the old woman. He nudges things back in the right direction. I know many fans will slander this and me because of the theological aspect, but TPTB even said all things from now on will not be explained by science. They have always showed both sides. If you are like me you understand the need for both, in my opinion science proves a God exist. In my opinion if you have one without the other you have ignorance and destruction.
