Okay, I just read the following in a 'Darlton' interview over at the Tailsection...
Interviewer: "...are Fisher Stevens and Zoe Bell going to be returning?"
CC: "You know, I think we'll duck that question."
...My thoughts: Okay, we know things are bad on the freighter. Suicides. Sickness. Mutiny. People are literally jumping ship. WHAT IF that freighter is due to end up at the bottom of the ocean... much like Flight 815 did (I'm not buying the fake-crash notion quite yet...)
What I mean is, when Flight 815 went through the Island's Crazy Time Barrier (TM), it was sort of split in two. One Flight 815 crashed on mystery island; the other warped a bit in time and space and sunk. All were killed, because the universe has a way of course correcting and not allowing any two of one person to survive at any given time.
Maybe the same thing is now happening to the freighter. It went through the CTB. One version of the freighter is now going forward through the barrier and is due to arrive at the island soon (promo pics from Cabin Fever anyone? All looking out to the ocean shocked?). MEANWHILE, the universe is course correcting the version of the freighter still out at sea. Sickness. Madness. They're all DOOMED, because there cannot exist two of each of them. So by the time the alternate freighter shipwrecks on LOST ISLAND, emerging from the CTB, the freighter left back on the otherside will be on the bottom of the ocean, filled with the dead bodies of anyone who hasn't already gone nuts and killed themselves.
Salient points if theory is true:
- Did Frank's chopper take off with Daniel, Charlotte, and Miles before the freighter went through the CTB? Did his taking the correct bearing spare the chopper from being time-shifted and duplicated or is there a chopper at the bottom of the sea right now with the dead bodies of these characters on it?
- If Sayid, Desmond, and Frank are the only blokes currently on the freighter without time-travel duplicates about to emerge on-island through the CTB aboard the duplicate freighter... they'd better get the hell off that ship before the universe course corrects it!
Eh? Eh?
