So if I said ‘Raise your hand if Jacob asked Locke for help’ would you? I’m pretty sure a lot of fans would. Well, what if, Jacob was asking Ben for help. Hear me out here. If Jacob is leader of The Others, and The Others are scared of Smokey, what if the white ashes are to shield Jacob from Smokey? What if Ben did that to keep him safe.
What if John Locke is posing a threat to Jacob, and Jacob wouldn’t reveal himself to Locke, so he asked Ben for help, but for some reason Locke heard it. Maybe because Locke has a communion with the island, Jacob couldn’t shield Locke from both vision and hearing.
So you say ‘Why did Ben ask Locke what Jacob said?’ Probably because Ben wanted to know if Locke heard Jacob correctly, so Ben could weigh up how skilled Locke’s island abilities are.
So it would make sense, Jacob is scared of Locke. That’s why he hid himself from Locke in season 4. Remember, when Jacob revealed himself to Hurley, then disappeared. Maybe, he was hiding from Locke (who found Hurley).
So you ask, why would Locke pose a threat to Jacob? Because Ben is Jacobs reliable man. Ben doesn’t question orders, he may be sly and manipulative at times, but Locke poses Ben’s position as leader a threat, and that is bad for Jacob, because Locke is stubborn and may go against Jacob.
I have a lot of work still on this theory. I’m working on connecting the smoke monster being Jacobs soul. I believe when Jacob died, he was so powerful, he refused to leave, but his soul left his body (making Jacob empty inside, losing his powers, needing Locke) and now his soul (smokey) roams around looking for the others, trying to kill them in spite of Jacob. If Jacob has no followers, he’ll give in and die, letting smokey die too. Smokey is in harm and wants the sweet relief of death.
Don’t be too hard on me, as this theory has a lot of work needed, but I hope you can see where im going.
