From Ausiello (Courtesy of DarkUFO):
"don't expect a definitive answer about the Six from Team Darlton. Carlton Cuse tells me they're "not going public with any further clarifications right now." And what of the ABC promo that promised viewers they'd know the identity of the Six by the end of last week's episode? "We don't determine how ABC promotes the show," says Cuse. "But Damon and I will say you have now seen all of the Oceanic Six in this season's episodes."
First of all...
Everyone is now assuming that Aaron is one of the oceanic 6. But just because Jin is not one doesn't mean that the GOOD reasons for Aaron NOT being should be thrown out the window.
- Kate is claiming Aaron as her own son.
--Could pregnant Kate swim and save all those people as Jack said at her trial?
--Would the U.S. Marshall service assume the liability of forcing a super-preggo woman to fly?
My point here is to say that no one would think that Kate was pregnant on the flight. Also, the media would obviously know if the Marshall was transporting a live baby/toddler along with Kate.
Second of all...
Why would Damon and Carlton not admit that Aaron is one of the Oceanic Six if he is? The episodes kinda lead people to believe that. So why be so shady about it now?
Saying that we "have now seen all of the Oceanic Six in this season's episodes" does not tell us anything. Or does it? Just saying that we have seen all of them (they do not specify 'during a flashfoward' or 'off the island') really only rules out Walt since we haven't seen him this season.
So WHO are the Oceanic Six?
We have heard all of the following CALLED Oceanic Six by someone in their flashforwards:
Jack, Kate, Sayid, Hurley, Sun
HERE IT IS--- The final member of the Oceanic Six is...FRANK LEPIDUS
Stay with me now---
We can infer that Michael could not have left the island two weeks ago (island time) and end up on the freighter without Walt and be able to convince everyone that he is Kevin Johnson, a janitor. This means that when he left the island he would have had to GO BACK IN TIME. How long? We will find out in Meet Kevin Johnson, I'm sure. But I assert that it was before September 22, 2004.
In Confirmed Dead, Lepidus calls into Oceanic and says that HE was supposed to be on 815. We do not know why he didn't make it on that plane.
What else do Jack, Kate, Sayid, Hurley, and Sun have in common besides being part of the O6? They almost did not get on the plane. Hurley was running late. Jack almost didn't go because they wouldn't let his dad's coffin on. Kate almost got away from the Marshall but decided to save the farmer, causing her to get caught. Sun was about to leave Jin but called off the plan at the last minute. Sayid was held by airport security (as a terrorist suspect) and could have missed the flight.
When Frank and the other five members of the O6 return (out of the island's reach) the universe course corrects. There will be no plane in the Sunda Trench. Maybe it will be found somewhere else? Everyone except the O6 really die. But they will exist on the island (perhaps in the same way Charlie is dead but he is "here", Christian Shepard, Walt, etc...)
That is why Jack wants to go back and Kate is not convinced in TTLG. And that is why Hurley wants to go back and Jack is not convinced in TBotE.--BECAUSE TTLG Kate and TBotE Jack don't think that going back (if they can even get back) will save their friends...because they are dead. (But we will find out in season 5 or 6 that they are still chillin out on the island).
NOTE: Let us remember that the freighter is trapped by the island's mysterious (electromagnetic) powers. So the fact that they know about the 815 that was found in the Sunda Trench would not change.
