We all have seen Lost shows and discussed about time traveling... We are still at lost what completely happened or how it happened or whatever that happened.
We saw Flashes Before Your Eyes and the recent episode, The Constant. Both shows included Desmond and his time traveling trips. In Flashes Before Your Eyes, we only saw the Island Desmond's mind traveled back in the past to Desmond's apartment- before he met Mr Widemore at his office looking for a job or asking Mr Widemore's permission to marry Penny, before he joined the army, etc... We never saw Past Desmond's mind on the Island. I think it's fair to assume the Past Desmond's mind on the island was knocked out or unconscious. Now, Island Desmond's mind in the past wasn't fully aware of what had happened but he found out he's back at his apartment living with Penny and he kept saying weird things or staring at a microwave that already beeped because he knew it had happened. He also knew he was suppose to go visit Mr. Widemore. My question is does Island Desmond know that already before or it just happened because it was suppose to happen. Now that he met Charlie outside a! fter meeting with Mr. Widemore. Then he couldn't remember his name but knew his face and his Island memories started to hit him and said "You're Charlie from the Island!". As for the bar thing where Island Desmond tried to explain to his friend that he came back from the future... explained about the soccer games, the fight, etc but he was not fully aware WHEN his mind traveled back in time or when these incidents happened. That's why he told his friend on a wrong night before it happened. Another question is does he really have to get hit in the head again in order to have his mind back to the Island? Was it because Past Desmond's mind on the island was still unconscious? Or did someone found out Island Desmond's time traveled back after he flipped the fail-safe switch? Hmmmm....
The Constant episode- We now saw both 1996 Desmond's mind and 2004 Desmond's mind traveled to and back. In order to keep his mind traveling intact, he needs a constant- Penny. He had to be explained by 1996 Daniel how to keep himself alive. Minowinski whatever his name died because he doesn't know how to keep himself alive. No one explained to him how. Now, do you think Desmond and Daniel are the only one who knows how to keep up with the mind time traveling? No. I am certain Ben knows this, too. Maybe Michael... I think Ben had mastered his mind time travel skills and seems to be on top of his plan everyday. Desmond will very soon use his as well only if he can find a place where he can do it. Only Ben knows
