Of all the mysteries of the island, none intrigue me more than Jacob.
I know I've posted thoughts on this before, yesterday actually, but since then I've had an epiphany of Locke like proportions.
I am not a religious freak by any means but I can't help but see the similarities. I posted that the names of the characters are very important, just not in the way I previously thought.
Let's look at the facts:
1)Only Locke and Ben have seen Jacob(Hugo saw an eye,maybe Jacob,maybe not)
2)We have an idea of what he may look like(a mix of Locke and Christian Shepard)
3)We don't know Jacob's last name
4)Only Ben can see him and apparently communicate with him whenever he wants
5)He seems to be a "leader"
I believe I have the answers to any questions about these points.
First, the names:Jacob,John,James,Shepard, theses all appear in the book of Matthew(my wife was reading aloud last night and this grabbed me)
JACOB
He was the father of Joeseph who was the father of Christ.
Jacob is Christian's father making him Jack's grandfather.
i.e:JACOB SHEPARD!!! This means we can see why Jack is of the utmost importance to the island, Jacob found the island and is Jack's grandfather making Jack the islands saviour. What strikes me as either important or coincidence is the book of the bible in which this occurs, Matthew which is Jack's name in real life, Matthew Fox.
John was a great man in the bible who could talk to God, John Locke can hear Jacob.
James was a simple fisherman who made a great sacrifice, leading me to believe Sawyer will have an honourable death.
Ben was not mentioned, he is merely a simple pawn with influencing power in my opinion, perhaps he is Satan like.
Whether this is all coincidence or me over thinking the thoery, it all makes sense to me.
