I know that this may sound a bit random, but does the island have some sort of immortality power? We all know that Locke was healed from his paralysis, and Rose was cured from her cancer, but it also seems that Richard Alpert doesn't seem to age. This suggests a number of things: firstly, are people born on the island able to live forever? So for example, the Hostiles and Jacob, and maybe even Aaron. Also, are certain types of people able to survive on the island, whereas they would die off of the island (ie Locke and Rose)? Also Mikhail - he survived a number of incidents which would have killed any other person (like the harpoon to the heart and the electro-wall thing), so he may have even survived the explosion. Does this mean he was born on the island? This could then explain why the freighter people want something from the island - immortality. They come to the island, kill a lot of people (survivors and the Others), hence why the Oceanic ! Six need to get back, along with Ben (if he isn't already dead). This also then brings me onto the list in Season 2 (the one with Jack, Hurley, Sawyer, & Kate) - are they 'special' people who are able to be immortal? Also Walt?
