I have tried to come up with some smaller theories but I have failed miserably at an overall arc theory. However I find this too damn interesting not to share. A while back the TPTB mentioned a love of Stephen King. They mentioned many things that could be important to the overall mystery. Let me know what you think of this. Anyone who has read King knows of the DT Series, which consisted of more than 7 books if you understood the overall tie ins to the opus. A common thing mentioned frequently was Native Americans. Now I know that the Losties are in the Pacific somewhere, but Polynesian to Native American is not that far from the Babel tree ( that is what I call it). There was a picture in the Swan hatch above the couch that the PTB said was important. It is of the Joshua Tree national Park. My theory is, that it is not the park itself that matters, but who occupied it. This would be the Cahuilla people. They date back over 2000 years. Without retyping or robbing from someone else's hard work I will post this link....read it...and let me know what you think....especially on the mythology and religion parts.

This would explain Locke's ability to communicate with the island, his natural attraction to it. Sweat Lodge, at one with the environment. This would also kinda explain Smoky...I believe it is a psychopomp. This would explain the whispers, the dead, and a whole lot of other cool stuff. The Cahuilla's also believed (for Stephen King fans) in Ka. Desmond does seem a little more in touch with it. Ka is the earth's natural force, it is everything. Cerberus/Smoky makes a lot of sense. The term Psychopomp is Greek. If any of you ever played Kingdom Hearts you would see a resemblance quickly. Cerberus used a black mist kinda stuff to attack. Very Cool.
If you like this let me know. If not, let me know. Just be tactful.
BTW I know this is long...but maybe D and C might respond to it.
