I know he speaks of natives, but could it be that DHARMA's experiments wiped the natives out and that the went on to the next people that came to the island.
I think that one area of trying to change the equation/the numbers that we all no so well is buy trying to rule out sex as a form of procreating, IE without human fluid transmition you have no STD's taht could be mans overall demise.

People seem to be skimming over the facts taht JJ abrams writes into his shows. I am sick of hearing people whine about lack of answers. YOU ALL HAVE SELECTIVE HEARING!
The plane crashed because of Desmonds mistake of not pushing the button, the gravitational pull yanked the plane out of the sky... It WAS coincidence. not a mystery. Plane crash - SOLVED
This video tells you what the island is, why its their and what they, dharma,are trying to achieve, so the island mystery itself is SOLVED!
The others are stealing children to carry on their legacy - thinkabout it. 30 people on an island... generations later, inbreeding... Inbreeding bad! Answer - More children from other blood lines. So Kiddy stealing mystery. SOLVED.
