Not sure where to post this, but I have a theory that I am working on. The "Genesis" of my theory is based on "Jacob's List"
And here it is....
Events and persons associated with Lost are based on events and persons associated with the Bible. What the ultimate Bible lesson is, remains to be seen and is a only a theory in progress.
Jacob was a son on Isaac who was a son of Abraham who is often sited as the major patriarch of the 12 tribes of Israel. from and through Abraham come most of the cast of characters that ultimately make up the bible and its stories or lessons.
Jacob was promised by God to be taken care of (health, wealth, etc...), but consistently refused to allow God to allow his plan to work for Jacob. To ultimately get Jacob's attention, God caused Jacob to suffer a crippling disease. At this time, Jacob realized that he alone couldn't fulfill his destiny, but needed God to care for him, heal him, protect him, etc... Jacob sounds an awful lot like... Ben!?!
Moses was an orphan. He later commits a murder and goes on the run. He eventually gets a message from God. God tells him to go to Egypt and free his people from bondage. He does this by leading them from Egypt and parts the red sea. In doing this he goes from sinner to spiritually leading people from sin to righteousness. remember the ten commandments? However, Moses is ultimately prevented from entering into Paradise because he was a sinner. Furthermore, it is believed that Moses took credit for certain miracles so that he would have glory over his followers, rather than god. Oh yeah, moses carried a staff. Sounds like someone else we know . . . Eko.
Eko was an orphan, committed a murder, and went on the run. He later came back to the orphanage where his people were and set them free from being held hostage by bandits who stole money and medicines. He then spent several years wandering, leading people as a priest. He was later asked to repent when he "saw" his brother on the island. Eko refused and stated that he made his destiny. he was then killed. What did his staff/stick say? "The lord is my Shepard?"
What is Jack's last name? Who does Ben now know he needs and must rely upon to realize his prophecy?
Ben = Jacob who becomes the father of the 12 tribes of Israel.
Eko = moses.
Jack = God.
Figuring out the rest is where the fun comes in. The trail I'm on starts again with Abraham. His birthplace was Ur (know known as Iraq). The character from Ur = Sayed. I don't believe Sayed in Abraham, but is somehow related to Abraham, just like Ben. With all of the references to philosophers in the show, I don't thik it is too far of stretch to suggest that Lost is based on the ultimate book on philosophy.
