ISLAND THEORY
Ok heres my theory about the island. The directors said that time may not be moving the same on the island as it is in the real world. Combine that with the electro-magnetism and u have an easy way why the island is invisible. The electro-magnet redirects satellite waves so that nothing comes up on a satellite image. And about the time thing. Everything on the earth is happening at the sane time. If one thing is not in that timeframe it becomes invisible and only things in that time area can see it. The plane crashing caused all of them to get into this time area and the others are stuck there as well with no way to directly contact the outside world. They got the red sox winning the world series video because the island is faster so it was in an archive or a satellite interception they received. As for the antarctic since time is different, they were outside the island but it was winter and when the electro-magnet explosion happened they picked it up but since they are in a different time area they couldn't see them only pick up the electro-magnetics.
