We are stuck in a bloody snowglobe!
Well, as the end of this season 3 “party 1” made of six episodes, comes to an end, and a ton of theories (interesting in most cases) and incorrect information apears on the net, people forget to look at the small details left behind.
The most badass discussion right now is: “What tha' hell Locke is going to find about the Island?”. People are saying that it is the words “Made in Taiwan” carved on the ground somewhere in the Island, a secret button that will blow every head on the Island... etc, etc, etc. But as we can see on the promo videos release for the next episode, The Cost Of Living, "tha' hell" is other.
But, for me, the real secret about the island was revealed on the first season.
When I first came up with my theory, most of my friends called me crazy, but until the end of the series, maybe never, they will swallow their words.
If JJ are a fan of SpoilersLost, I maybe be fucked. But that's ok, I just thought it's a good time to share with you fans, like me ;)
When the box of the first season was released in Brazil (Yes. I'm a brazillian guy.) I bought one immediately.
The first thing a sane person would do, is watch the damn thing all over again. I put the extra DVD... and then. B-O-O-M!!!
It was right there in front of my eyes, the answer for the “secret”.
At the very begin of the extra content DVD, J.J Abrams is talking about the idea behind the series, and that he want it that the Island, was not only a “Island”.
So... flashes of images come to my TV while he's talking, and in the middle of them I saw one that catch my attention like magnetism.
As you can see, I toke this screenshot with the Portuguese subtitle (sorry), but the translation would be:
“I have this idea, what if the Island was not just a Island.”
I don't know if other versions of the box got the same thing on it. Please post any comments about your version if you got one.
I was shocked!!!
This shot of Hurley's comic book, show's the Alien X's unearthed ship. For more info about the comic book check the Lostpedia entry about it.
I ran and put all the episodes where the Hurley's comic book show up, and noted an interesting fact.
In none of the moments when Hurley or Walt, or even when the comic book shows up lonely, you see this image, I mean, in the episodes. It shows other pages, and the pollar bear. But not the Alien X's ship.
So boys and girls, you're now wondering, what I wondered a long time ago. And I say: YES!
Now, let's fast foward a little, to other small detail, that not everyone forget.
Rebember the station with the two “portuguese speakers”? Yeah, the guys who found Desmond, working for Penelope Widmore? Ok, cool.
Now... do you guys rebember the number that show up on the monitor when the beep gets crazy?
Just a “mind refresh”:
As you can see, the number is: 7418880
I paused on this screen just to see if it was running Linux, and don't even realize the numbers. Later then I saw the sequence, and found that they where the sum of “The Numbers”. Nothing new huh?
If you are a hard fan, you read Lostpedia all the time, and you might already have readed about this numbers. As Lostpedia says: 74°18'S 88°0'W is a location in Antarctica. But... the “but” exists.
But.. when they say: This could be the location of the Listening Station. I can't help disagree with them.
If you guys take a look at the last minutes of "Live Together, Die Alone" , you can see that the day is ending, actually, it's night on the last minutes of the episode.
As all of us know, when is day at one pole, it's night on the other, right?
If you remember, on the shot that show's the outside from the Listening Station window, you can see: IT'S DAY! I said: DAY. It's possible to see even the shadows on the montains. So... I don't have to explain more than this.
If you need more info about the poles, take lessons: North Pole and South Pole.
The magnetism on one pole, attracts the other. So... if you want to detect an electromagnetic anomaly, where would you go? North or South? Both!
So. If it's day on the Listening Station and night on the Island, and the coordinates 74°18'S 88°0'W is a location in Antarctica... where are the island?
So friends and doubters... as Desmond said: We are stuck in a bloody snowglobe!
I could be very wrong? YES! But I doubt it. Anyway, this is my “theory”.
Some may say, "Oooohhh... nothing new on it". Just because Locke is a "hatch finder", and we have the "black smoke" who kill people, and the others, and all the other sort of things that happen on the island, we may say to you Alek: "Of course it's man made, you stupid!".
But, if you told a X-Files fan a couple of years ago, that Mulder would be the alien hybrid, he probably would have beat the shit out of you ;)
The Island, is manufactured, placed in the middle of Antarctica, the outside world (not everyone) don't know about it's location. Think about it as if it was an eden-snowglobe. Made by the hand of men. For what purpose? Hu boy... see you at the end of the journey ;)
