LOST Theories - DarkUFO

Locke was special by WheresWalt

Ok, this is just a small theory that may have been touched on before, if so I apologize. My theory is that the John Locke that we've known was a planned birth or expeiment if you will. I know this doesn't really solve any of our remaining mysteries, but I think it's important to know that Locke was born for all of this to happen. I was recently watching the Life and Time of Jeremy Bentham and found something Widmore said very intriguing. He said "your parents had a sense of humor when they named you, so why cant I?" Now, we've been told very little about Johns mother and we know his fathers last name was Cooper. So how did he end up with the name Locke? I believe he was predestined to be the man he is and that as Widmore said, naming him John Locke was humorous almost an inside joke. I think in the end John Locke will represent destiny as opposed to free will. This is a complete mirror image of the famous philosopher John Locke.

Locke's theory of mind is often cited as the origin of modern conceptions of identity and the self, figuring prominently in the work of later philosophers such as Hume, Rousseau and Kant. Locke was the first to define the self through a continuity of consciousness. He postulated that the mind was a blank slate or tabula rasa. Contrary to pre-existing Cartesian philosophy, he maintained that we are born without innate ideas, and that knowledge is instead determined only by experience derived from sense perception.[6]

I found those connections very ironic, for anyone who doesn't know of the real John Locke check out the link above for some ironic details. Thanks for reading and keep up all the great theories and thoughts on this site.
