LOST Theories - DarkUFO

okay, let me see if i can convey my thoughts in a somewhat coherent manner for everyone as opposed the free associative way in which they come to me. firstly, i think many of us are forgetting this is a story about the end of the world. i forget this myself often since the show makes little mention of it, but the whole show seems to revolve around the numbers, which are tied to a doomsday prediction, and we have the ominous remarks made by eloise hawking that i'm not going to bother citing on account of that everyone and their brother already has.

so, you have a situation in which the world is going to end, and certain people have knowledge of this namely the native islanders. how they came into this knowledge is not really important i tend to think that they knew the same way the ancient civilizations knew all sorts of things...they just did. now then you have a civilization with foreknowledge of the end of! the world AND the abilitity to manipulate time. so, what then is the best course of action to take to avert disaster? why not set a loop that restarts just before the calamity? it's like this episode of twilight zone i once saw where this girl could stop time with a stopwatch. at the end of the episode the soviets launch a nuke at the US and she stops time right before the missile arrives leaving it hovering above the city frozen in time. in the case of lost though, they just set that point as the end of the loop. where the loop begins i'm not sure, nor am i sure that it is important. what is important though is that while there may be variances in the way things play out the end is always ultimately the same. now think about that movie groundhog day. at first bill murrays character doesn't realize he's repeating the same day over and over. he just has a vague sort of deja vu. but the more times the day repeats the more he catches on until he ultimately knows ev! erything that's going to happen throughout the course of the d! ay befor e it happens, so he begins to make changes from day to day. now if you apply this to LOST and only people on the island are part of the loop, and ther more times you are in the loop the more you remember of it when it repeats this would explain why some people, like ben, seem to know everything that's going to happen before it does, and suprised at variations, while others, like jack, seem to have a bit of muscle memory. i would posit that jack has been through the loop before, but not many times, while ben has been through the loop numerous times. now to address the supposed alt timeline for the next season. my prediction is what everyone is assuming is an alternative, but concurrent timeline is really going to be them showing us the beginning of the next cycle while simultaneously showing us the end of the cycle we've been watching unfold for the past five seasons. sorry if this wasn't very clear, but i'm writing this between customers at work so...i'd love to hear an! y questions or comments.
