his is just random thinking. Something crossed my mind and it is easier to ask a question here and not in the comment.
You all remember the scene when Ben instructs Alex to leave Othersville and head to the Temple. Right?
The chamber
So he gave here a map of the Temple (I am thinking she was never there, because as far as we know she is pretty good in all jungle actions, helping people and getting them out) and he told here that temple is the last safe place for them, the Others. He also told here that Locke & Co cant come with her, because the Temple is just for their people. A lie, of course, because Danielle was never a part of the Others (unless we overlooked it, and I wouldn't be surprised lol) so the reason why he told a lie was probably because something or someone was in the Temple at the moment so he couldn't take that chance.
When you think about it, he HAD to keep them on the island. Probably because he knew what part in the game they are playing. But that really doesn't matter.
What matters is: WHY USE DHARMA LOGO ON THE MAP TO THE ANCIENT TEMPLE?
What do we know about the Temple? Nothing.
We know there is an underground facility where Smoke Monster resides. We know that Montand lost his arm there. We also know that French team got infected under the Temple. We know Ben was judged under the Temple. All these things happened under the Temple. Except for one thing. Ben was saved behind the walls of the Temple.
Interesting. Because Ben was half dead when Richard took him. The last time we saw two of them Richard pushed the wall and that was it. At the time I though that's it. That's the Temple but in Dead is Dead Ben said that is THE WALL AROUND their Temple. With Dharma Logo on the map I started to think. The map, the logo, the wall covered in plants, in hostile perimeter..it reminded me of the Swan site. Hidden. On Hostile territory but a belonging of Dharma Initiative.
I don't know is it me, my profession or what but somehow I cannot wrap my mind around it. The Temple suppose to be a sanctuary, old, but something tells me that is not what we are gonna see.
Similar to the Dharmaville. Above it is something new, yellow houses but Horace Goodspeed has a very interesting basement. In this basement he has a door. When you push this door, in the right place, door opens and an ancient wall appears, behind the wall there is a hallway. And a tunnel. If you go through this tunnel you will end up in the room where you can summon a Smoke Monster. There is no way that this house was built with no knowledge of this existing tunnel. Whoever built this particular house knew where it was building it and why here. Something tells me its Radzinsky. He was making a model for the Swan. Perhaps he is an architect among other things, who knows.
We know how Dharma Initiative found the island. This is the answer to why. They knew what is going on there (and so will we soon), they picked a place, of all the island, this huge island they picked one small part of land and they built a leaders house above the chamber for summoning the Smoke Monster. Really?
They built the Orchid Station above the FDW and exotic matter. They built The Swan on top of the EM. So they knew exact spots..they picked these spots and they built stuff above them.
So the only logical thing to consider - is it possible that in fact Temple is another facility created by Dharma Initiative on top of the ancient tunnels, where Smoke resides? Just think about it. Theres no logic in it. The chamber for summoning the Monster is in the basement of DI leader. They also built the pilons for keeping the monster out??? Although we never saw Monster during 70s (which is weird) the pylons imply he exists, I guess. I am confused.
The Truce
When Sawyer ended up in 1974 he stumbled upon Amy and her husband Paul. They were having lunch on a forbidden territory. Hostile territory.
Why would they jeopardize their lives so easily? Because they forgot. The habit is a very odd thing. It takes you ages to get use to something new. A new rule.
Lets go back a little bit. Ben is having a class. Topic of the day: Volcano. Suddenly we hear the sirens, we sea people running around, we hear Roger got attacked by the Hostiles.
So, we have a truce in 1974 but in 1973 there is a war. Right?
Truce is something that follows war.
I always wondered why would Others let DI stay on the island and kill US Military. I mean DI was bringing more people to the island every year. They have even published add that says "You wanna save the world join DI" or something like that...making the island sort of public, bringing all kinds of people to the island. I doubt island wanted that. So why?
We have a huge gap. My guess is the Others never let them stay on the island. They fought hard but then something happened and the truce was made in 1974 just few days or weeks before Sawyer and Co. came.
Maybe the part of this truce was a new border. Maybe they had to abandon their Temple site as a part of this new deal. I also thing this deal was made between Horace and Richard, because back in La Fleur they seemed close.
Like I said this is just random thinking but still I wonder, why would they put DI logo on the map? Unless it was an DI facility.
Tell me what you think. Perhaps I overlooked something I don't know. And due to some recent news regarding our favorite show just made me realize that we will never figure out this show. Until the end, and who knows maybe not even then.
