LOST Theories - DarkUFO

The Mirror Effect: Parallel of the Seasons by Dio

This theory will show how the season finales mirror each other, and how this can help make predictions about Season 6. The "mirror" effect is that the premieres and finales of seasons 2&5 share many similarities, season 3&4, and seasons 1&6. Lets look at the finales first, and first seasons 2&5:

Season 2 Season 5
-Electromagnetic anomaly released -Electromagnetic anomaly released
-The Swan is destroyed -The Swan site is destroyed
-Two groups: One at the Swan, one -Two groups, one at the Swan, one
with the Others with the Others
The titles of the finales of 2&5 also allude to each other. Live Together, Die Alone, can be seen as an allusion to the end of season 5 in which the survivors are split into two groups in two different time lines. Perhaps if they had been together, Juliet may have survived, or perhaps Jacob.
Lets look at the finales of season 3&4

Season 3 Season 4
-trying to get off the Island -getting of the Island
-not Penny's boat -it is Penny's boat
-Charlie sacrifices in the ocean -Sawyer sacrifices in the ocean
-Jack at funeral parlour -Jack at funeral parlour
-Widmore sends Kahana -Kahana destroyed

The titles of these two finales also allude to each other. There's No Place Like Home, the title of the season 4 finale, refers to the survivors quest for the radio tower in the season 3 finale in a desperate attempt to return home. Through the Looking Glass, the title of the season 3 finale, is a literary reference to the "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" series. In it, she journeys from the real world to Wonderland, and world very different from her own. She leaves wonderland after the first book, but then returns in the second, which has the same title as the season 3 finale. The survivors left the Island in the season 4 finale, going back through the looking glass, returning to a world very different from the Island.

Lets now look at what the main plot points of the season 1 finale were. First, it was titled Exodus. This lead me to believe that the season 6 finale will also be named after a book from the Old Testament. Since Numbers has already been an episode, the only choices left are Genesis, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy. Genesis means the beginning, and the book itself depicts the creation of the world. Perhaps the the season 6 finale will focus on the creation or beginning of the Island. Leviticus means concerning the Levites. The Levites were a tribe of the children of Israel chosen by God to protect his covenant. Their main duties were in the Temple in Jerusalem. Perhaps this refers to the Temple on the Island, and the special group of people tasked with keeping it safe. Deuteronomy comes from the Latin root for "two", because the book of Deuteronomy is a repetition of the story of the Exodus from Egypt and the wandering in the desert. This repetition can be seen as analagous to the! time loop that some think exists in Lost. Also, Deuteronomy ends with the death of Moses, the long-time leader of the Israelites. Perhaps Jack, long-time leader of the survivors, will die in the finale.

What happens in the season 1 finale?
There are three main points: the Black Rock is found, the Smoke Monster is revealed, and the Hatch is open. I think that at least a portion of season 6 will take place in the time the Black Rock landed on the Island, and this will be addressed in the finale. The Smoke Monster is clearly the largest lingering mythological question on the show, and it would not be surprising if it/he/she plays a major role in the finale. As for the Hatch, I think the electromagnetic energy there (positively charged?) and the energy in the Orchid (explicitly referred to as "negatively charged exotic matter) are important keys to understanding the Island's mystical properties. The analogy to the opening of the Hatch will be, perhaps, the creation of the well to access the FDW, or perhaps the discovery of the EM energy by the Island natives.
