LOST Theories - DarkUFO

Mind Games by Marcus

Scientists have long thought that you can move about in all directions of space, but in only one of time. This statement could be false however, for we already move around the time dimension in our minds. When we remember a past event, we become absent minded, it’s almost as though we were physically there. Now imagine for a moment, this memory was vivid enough and contained all the sights, sounds, smells, taste, and feelings which come from an actual experience. What is the true difference then between this memory and physically being there? I would argue there is no difference; it would be a WHH super memory if you like.

A super memory contains all the information necessary to recreate, perfectly, an actual physical experience.

People will say this just can’t be the case, because you would know the difference between a memory and actually experiencing something firsthand. Would you though? Would you really know the difference? If this super memory contained all the senses associated with an experience, then surely from your perspective, as you’re actually experiencing it, it would appear real? The brain would have no spare capacity left to inform you that this is in fact, all just a memory. You wouldn’t realise until it’s all over, that it was just a memory. It’s the same with dreams; you don’t actually know your experiencing a dream until you wake up.

You might argue, since this time around it’s a memory, it’s just a simulated world, an illusion; there’s no physical input from the environment. The answer to that is what was it the last time around then? Since anything we see, hear, taste, feel, smell, is simulated by our brain, we essentially live in a simulated world.

If super memories exist, then would it be possible to die whilst experiencing one?

I would say, yes. Even though it’s WHH you could still die. For example, let’s say as a youngster, you experience something terrifying, something that you barely survive, years then pass by and you become an old person. You now have one of these super memories, which recreate’s that entire horrifying experience, but as you’re now old and frail, during this experience, you suffer a heart attack and die instead; your heart just can’t cope with the strain this time around.

Now, from an observer’s perspective, you’ve clearly just had a heart attack whilst sat in your chair, nothing more, from your own perspective however, you’ve just had a real experience and one which is no different from physically being there, so you’ve effectively died in your own past.

What does all this have to do with lost?

In season 3, Desmond didn’t time travel at all. All that he experienced was a super memory combined with an implanted memory, which gave the illusion of time travel

It was his exposure to the high electromagnetic field from the hatch blast, which heightened his memory in the first place. These super memories were so vivid he believed he was actually in the past. Jacob or MIB then utilized the exotic energy wave on the island to superimpose new people, objects into his memories

I would even argue ) that throughout season 3, either Jacob or MIB, used the exotic energy wave to manipulate Desmond into saving Charlie, by implanting new memories of Charlie dying into his subconscious, as part of the game they’re both playing. Whenever Desmond had a flash, he was simply accessing these new memories.

The curious thing about Desmonds mind flashes were they only focused on Charlie. Why should that be the case?? If Desmond truly had his life flash before his eyes, then surely he would’ve had flashes of other events which didn’t involve Charlie? The flashes just seemed so manipulative, selective, only Charlie was involved. Why would Desmond have a special link with Charlie? I would argue there was no special link; it was Jacob or MIB all along.

I haven’t got around to making this theory fit with any other flashes yet, I doubt I’ll be able too, and anyway I think it already has enough holes in it. However I’m prepared for the inevitable slaughter in the comments section lol, have fun
