Shhhh Ethan by Jonathan

This isn't a massive theory based on the major events of the season 5 finale or anything. This isn't too much of a theory either!

I just want to address Ethan and a few things that don't make a lot of sense to me with regards to him.

Ethan was born not too long before the general consensus on the island was "Women and children get on the sub!"

So I would assume that along with Miles and his mother and Charlotte and her mother, Ethan and his mother would leave the island...

Why then is Ethan on the island when he is approaching his teens with Ben when snatching Alex?

This occurred in 1988 - before the purge. So Ethan had at a very early age decided, like Ben to defect to The Others. Why? He allowed his father to die. Horace didn't seem like Ben's dad at all. Seems quite strange and I'm unsure of a potential reasoning.

I'm also unsure if Ethan told Ben about Locke, when Locke flashed and was shot by Ethan, he said Benjamin Linus made me your leader and then disappeared. This seems like something you would immediately go and tell Ben and you definitely wouldn't forget. So are we to assume that like Richard and Jacob, Ben already knew of John Locke?

I don't think these are in need of urgent answer, but I noticed them and felt they were necessary to mention on here. Would be interesting to see if Ethan and any of this is referred to in season 6.
