I read a post ages ago where somebody suggested that Ray, Jack’s grandfather, was actually Sawyer 30 years later.
And I stated that no, Ray is JACK 30 years later. Now this makes more and more sense.
Let’s say that as several posters have hypothesized, maybe Jack and the other O6ers actually stayed in 1977 and lived out 30 years or so of existence inside of the Temple. The O6ers could have orchestrated all that we’ve seen on the Island beginning in 1977, such as the Purge, having Jack, Hurley, Kate and Sawyer on the “list” of those captured by Ben, making sure that Radzinski stays trapped in the Swan pushing the button and much more.
We also have recent theories suggesting that Jack’s imprisonment in the cage, on exhibit for the Others, was mystifying to them because a DIFFERENT timeline of Jack lived in the Temple since 1977.
And let’s point out the recent comments about Ray’s apparent involvement in our storyline, as he obviously knew to hold onto Christian’s black shoes while living in a cramped nursing home – not something a normal person would do. And again, we have Ray’s comments about having a place to run away to - that entire sequence seemed to scream that Ray had been on the Island. It occurred to me that the entire “Proxy wearing Christian’s Shoes” segment was created so as to introduce us to Ray.
Now check out the actor who played Ray. The guy REALLY looks like Matthew Fox would in 30 years, doesn’t he? Not like his son, Christian, but like JACK.
How weird would it be if Young Jack, 2007, was interacting with aged 1977 Jack; one who lived from 1977 to sometime in the 2000’s on the Island and made it back to the mainland? We have no idea if Jack’s grandfather was an integral part of his entire life, if Jack knew him growing up, etc.
This is even more puzzling when we consider the webisode where Christian give Jack his grandfather’s watch (the grandfather is not named) and Christian infers that this is Jack’s LATE grandfather’s watch. But we’ve now seen a man who is supposed to be Ray Shepard, Christian’s dad and Jack's granddad, alive and well.
Also I just read a theory/discussion today about Christian and Ray being Others. Some posters suggested that if Jack and the O6 were hiding in the Temple from 1977 on, they were in fact Others themselves. Well, if Ray was 1977 Jack, then perhaps to make sure that WH,H, 1977 Jack/Ray would need to make sure that Christian ended up dead and back on the Island?
What am I missing here with my Saturday night, post bar hopping theory? Does this make sense if you haven’t had a few glasses of wine? Thanks.
