A Backwards Reset by Cassiopea

The possibility of a "reset" in my opinion is a possible timeline which happened before things were changed, not a direct result of Jack blowing up the bomb. They were changed by someone else. It's all backwards. It looks like Jack's plan worked and this is an alternative timeline which has come about because Jack made a change but I don't think it is.

Jack and co blew up the bomb, they always did, it will be contained and become part of WHH. Faraday conned Jack into achieving WHH. Jack thought he could make a difference, he could have done but Jack didn’t have the info that Dan had, he didn’t know what he could change and what he couldn’t or what the consequences would be. Faraday didn’t want Jack to make any changes so he told Jack what Jack wanted to hear. Faraday knows that if he wants to manipulate the timeline (he must be using the data from his diary as we have already seen him do) and he wants things to happen as they did last time so that he can continue to make his own adjustments. If Jack does something different Faraday will not know what the consequences will be or what the future will be. He wants to shape the future for his own advantage.

I actually think that the events we will be seeing in season 6 will be how the time line would have been if they had not gone to the island, we will see an alternative, but it was them crashing on the island that was a change from the original timeline. It's being shown to us in the wrong order to make us think that Jack made a difference.

The war is a fight over the timeline and making events play out a certain way to one side’s advantage. This involves changing time and as a result the Losties crashed on the island. Whether that was to create a difference or whether it was just an unexpected result of some other changes I’m not sure but I’d like to guess the latter.

I think originally Christian turned the wheel to go off island to try make a difference or to instigate changes and his way to get back to the island was to be in a plane known to be flying over the island. Dead or otherwise I think it was necessary for him to return to the island. Maybe that was part of the experiment. If Cerberus is malfunctioning, which I think is the device that keeps the alternative universes separate, then the experiment is to see if one can be “resurrected” on the island. Really it’s just that you’ve switched to another alternative reality.

Dharma and the Others may or may not be on the same team but they are both sending people back in time to make changes. Widmore left this way too I believe but he couldn’t go back because there’s always a risk that MIB might take on ones form like he may have done with Christian and Locke. That could be why one cannot return to the island.

I actually believe that WHH and the course correction thing is just a way to stop the Losties interfering in the war and making their own changes which will mess up with what the two sides are trying to accomplish. Faraday could be aligned to one of those sides (team Hawking/Widmore) and they're the ones giving all this WHH and course correction info to our Losties. The Losties are just pawns being manipulated by the two sides in the war. It's these two sides which are changing the time line and have been creating ALTs.

I think we’ll be shown events which happened before these two sides interfered in the timeline in the first place IMO. In the meanwhile we will learn loads of info to prove this. The Losties crashing on the island happened in a later iteration of the timeline in my opinion.
