In dead is dead, Sun tells Ben that she was told to wait there for Locke by Christian - and Ben gives a reaction to this. Whas he just trying to scare her? Or has he also met this "Christian".
It is after this scene that Ben says to Sun that ded is ded.
Maybe Ben started to wonder if that really was Locke after seh said that.
And maybe he figured it out later on. So maybe he was never fooled to kill Jacob. He did it with a clearer picture. He did not lke Jacob and not just that, maybe he told to mib that he knew in a scene we havnt seen, but would do it anyone if he could have some in exchange. Maybe Ben will become the knew leader of the island?
If not Ben then maybe Widmore?
Maybe widmore has worked for smokey/mib in a long time cus he will get the island as a reward. Consider this, maybe most of all, mib needed John Locke. And it was a man working for Widmore that brought him there.
Maybe Jacob was forced by mib to heal Locke when he fell cus he needed a player according to his rules.
If smokey has been Christian and some whispers then he can appear outside of the island since Christian has, and Kate got some whispering influence right before she got another influence that she would not let Aaron get back.
And if Jacob can, why not mib/smokey?
But i have been thinking. Maybe smokey can just be smokey on the island, and needs a human form to be on the beach, when we saw smokey arounf Nikki and Paoulo right before they got paralyzed - they were close to the beach and smokey was just a whisp. The barracks on the other hand are deep in the jungle and he was realy big when he got summoned to kill by Ben.
Maybe Jacob has layed some protection around the beach to protect the losties.
