For some time I have felt that Lost is based on a parallel universe. Seems like this is getting to be a more and more popular theory so I thought maybe I would add my comments.
Some theories of physics postulate the existence of many parallel universes, possibly even an infinite number which may or may not interact with each other. One theory is that the time flow in a parallel universe may be even be very different from another. Instead of bopping through time, I believe our Losties have been traveling across universes.
Now, let’s say we wanted to build our own parallel universe. We could select from one of the methods below. I am leaning toward number three.
1.Build an Einstein-Rosen bridge or wormhole. We need a whole lot of energy for this one
2.Open a window into the space-time continuum We need a bunch of energy for this one too.
3.Distort space and time with strong electromagnetic fields Let’s use the one under the Swan.
Now that we have our own universe, we may not want anyone messing with it. In fact there may be people out there that would like to change things so that our universe ceases to exist and theirs becomes the grand pupa of all universes. Oh no! a big war may be coming.
*****Easter Egg********
I think I may have found some Easter eggs in our universe.
Egg 1-What’s up in Denmark?
For most of the last century, the most accepted explanation for a quantum particle’s behavior ways was the Copenhagen interpretation. Wonder if Alvar Hanson had anything to do with it?
A couple of thought experiments- can’t really be done, but physicists find them very amusing.******
Egg 2-Schrödinger's cat
Many of you know the thought experiment, Schrödinger's cat. Without going into all the details, it involves the theoretical placing of a cat into a box with radioactive materials. It is mindful of Amira’s cat which she rescued from the hands of a bunch of boys abusing forcing the cat into a box containing exploding fireworks.
Egg 3-Quantum suicide
I took the following from http://science.howstuffworks.com/quantum-suicide3.htm.
Reminds me a lot of Michael’s attempted suicide and maybe even Jacob’s “immortality”.
If a man puts a gun to his head and pulls the trigger, there are two possible outcomes: the gun either fires or it doesn't and the man either lives or he dies. Each time the trigger is pulled, the universe splits to accommodate each possible outcome. When the man dies, the universe is no longer able to split based on the pulling of the trigger. The possible outcome for death is reduced to one: continued death. When the man pulls the trigger and the universe is split in two, however, the version of the man who lived will be unaware that in the other version of the split universe, he has died. Instead he will continue to live and will again have the chance to pull the trigger. And each time he does pull the trigger, the universe will again split, with the version of the man who lives continuing on, and being unaware of all of his deaths in parallel universes. In this sense, he will be able to exist indefinitely. This is called quantum immortality.
****Really wierd funky parapsychology stuff****
Take a look at this site. http://the-psychic-detective.com/shadow-people-types.htm If you don’t want to, here is a really quick overview:
Some believe that they are interdimensional beings which exist in a parallel universe to our own. They call these shadow people. There are various types of shadow people but we Lost fans may enjoy “The Black Smoke or Black Mist Shadow Person” defined as a black smoke-like or black mist experience. Witnesses that have encountered these beings have described them as having intelligent characteristics and reactions to events. Encounters with the black smoke shadow beings have been associated with overwhelming feelings of dread and malevolence.
Ok, I got so much more of this stuff, but this is enough for now. If you made it this far. Thanks a lot!
