One flashback which must be addressed in season 6 must show us what exactly happens when Hurley is responsible for the deaths of 2 people by collapsing a porch. I suspect that these two may have been entities existing on the island throughout the course of the series; they may even have been two main characters. This is due to the fact that Hurley has the very 'special' ability to talk to dead people, and he, like Jacob, can make people appear (just as Walt appeared in season 2).
Perhaps he can even make other things happen, things because he thinks he's cursed, he expects the worse, when n fact it is his thinking of the worst situation which causes the worst situation to actually happen (much like the appearance of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man due to Dan Akroyd's thoughts). In "Catch-22," Hurley tells Desmond that Jin goes with them to search for the looking glass cable, and Desmond has a new flash in which a previous scene viewed had now been altered to incorporate Jin.
What if Hurley was standing on the deck at the party thinking that the deck would collapse because he's nervous it might happen, and his 'vision,' in a sense, causes it to happen. This would explain how he got into the mental institution, either because he thought that his bad wish actually came through, or because he was having conversations with dead people, or both. Hurley could have also caused the meteor landing on the chicken shack, his lottery win, and even the crash landing of the plane (On a side note, by the end of the show we may get several explanations for what actually caused the plane to come to the island, ranging from Desmond's mishap and the murder of Kelvin, Hurley's self-causing 'bad luck,' or even some of Jacob or Man in Black as-yet-unknown abilities, but I digress).
So, could the two people who Hurley accidentally killed be some of the characters we have met on the show? Or, not?
