ok its quite simple: 1)the island = game board. 2)Jacob&MIB = the opposing players. 3) in backgammon there is dice the dice get shook around the rolled out, so dice rolling = time travel (always random) 4)the pieces on the game board = our losties and everyone else who shows up.
ok now backgammon like any other game can be played over and over and over again. so when the game is finished one side wins. i have a feeling jacob really sucks at playing this game and MIB if very good at it lucky or whatever. my theory is that i just believe its a game. while i believe the end is that simple that we find out its just someone playing a game we have the complexity of the characters but thats because its a tv show. now i know there is a lot of other ways this can be interpreted so id love to see what people add to this! so go ahead make my day!
