Its clear that after the finale, the war between Jacob and his enemy (black) is going to get underway and its going to be a fight for the island. But how can this be with Jacob apparently dead?
While watching the flashbacks for the episode, it felt as though when Jacob made an effort of touching all of the characters - it just reminded me of Harry Potter and the horcruxes. If anyone's unfamiliar with horcruxes, the evil Voldemort put pieces of his soul in random objects and even his snake, so that if he died, he would still live on through the objects and have a chance to come back to life in some way. Now, from the conversation at the beginning of the finale between Jacob and black, black openly admits his intent to kill Jacob, so what if Jacob has been setting up his resistance, so to speak, by investing a bit of him in all of our characters, ready for the day when the battle comes and he may lose, our losties, brought to the island for a reason - to win the battle for good (Jacob) - can save the island and defeat black. When Jacob says 'theyre coming' I believe he is talking about the losties, who are about to be transported from the past to fight the war.
Another thought, also in Harry Potter, Harry in the end turns out to be the final horcrux and when he is killed, Voldemort dies. Wouldnt it be interesting if Locke is a key piece of Jacob's army, as he was brought back to life by Jacob's touch.
I also think that black was imprisoned in the cabin and was released - Jacob did reside there once, but a long time ago.... he imprisoned black there. Im not sure who let black out yet, but the man Locke and Ben went to see in The Man Behind The Curtain was black Im sure.
My mind is racing, leave your thoughts
