I will continue to play on the Jacob (Good) vs Esau (Bad) theory.
Over the last few seasons, we have had huge religious undertones. Many people are saying it is in relation to the Biblical Christian story of Jacob and Esau son of Issac.
When I first saw the Statue I first though of Horus (The Egyptian God of the Sky). Horus is one of the most important gods.
He had a nemesis though Hoth the god of Darkness and Chaos. These two would fight everyday. Horus would prevail every morning when the sun would rise. But Hoth would prevail in defeating Horus every night as the darkness would set in.
Now as we know, every day the sun rises and sets. The battle rages on. "There is only one end"
We now know of the great war that is going on on the island. It is between Jacob and Esau.
The last words Jacon spoke "They are coming". Could mean a lot of things, but when he said it Locke Esau looked somewhat scared. I do believe it is the 815ers from 1977. All of them, he visited them in particular for a reason. They are good people. Most argue the scene with Juliette parents pointless. I argue it proved Jacob had not visited her and thus, she is not part of the war. She is gone.
According to Dan the bomb being detonated should have released all the magnetic energy at the Swan, therefor Desmond will never forget to push the button and the plane will land safely in LA. Daniel is wrong.
The one other significant part of our opening scene is, the Black Rock. Jacob summoned it, or brought it there, because of the good people on it. Just like he was the one who caused 815 to crash, and subsequently Flight 316. He has brought these people here for good, to help end the loop. End the ever present war.
Next season the Losties will all be back, and the Jack/James (Jacob) vs. Esau (Locke) will end the loop that they have all been stuck in. Maybe this time there will be a winner.
