Here's the way the future war will happen.
1)Eloise's "Statue's Shadow" group will use their crate to get past Cerberus to the Temple but emitting a frequency sonar impulse to protect them, much like the ark of the covenant protected the israelites in battle. Once at the Temple, they can use the ancient looking but actually advanced technology to see past events on the island (like a looking glass into the past). While they look into the past and discuss what they see, their whispers are heard by those being watched, hence the whispers.
2)After they and the audience see important events of the island's past in this looking glass, they head to the Shadow of the Statue to use what lies there. This place is the door with the abandoned camp that Sayid found in season 2. We all assumed it was just a fake but "The Door" with an infinity symbol on it was cemented over. The others had access to cement so they closed it off when the Purge happened. Eloise Hawking knew and it's use is the reason for Christian telling Locke about Eloise. Christian knew that Eloise knew about the Lamppost and the Statue's Shadow. He knew Eloise would send a group to the statue. This is why Richard says to John that the only way to save the island is to get his people back by dying.
3)So Christian, Eloise, Ilana, and Bram want to get to "The door" and blast it open. The Door opens and out walks Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Sawyer, Jin, and Juliet. Miles stays behind with his Dad during the Incident. This new "Incident 6" instantaneously travels from 1977 to 2007 on the island and meets John, Ben, and the War. (And FYI, The Door is how Christian and Richard appear to be ageless. They just travel back in forth in time a lot.)
4)Now that "The Incident 6" meet up with the rest of Ajira 316, the war can really begin. Charles Widmore knew it was coming in 2007 in Tunisia but he left the island in 1992. He was shown that a war would happen in his dreams in October 2005 when Ben asked him when he started sleeping with a bottle of scotch. "When the nightmares began." So Charles was shown a scenario where John Locke had to be on the island, or else, as he put it to John in person, "the wrong side is going to win." Bram likewise says in 2004 that he's on the side that's going to win and it isn't Widmore's.
5) Ben knows he's being watched by Jacob and Cerberus now so he has to have faith for the first time that John is on the right path. Cerberus Judged his past, Jacob told him what his destiny should be. Locke and Ben will accompany The Shadow group to The Door to meet the Incident 6. Locke and Jack will find Richard and complete the mission of breaking the time-loop that has been happening for 53 years (1954-2007) and beginning a new future (or a new time-loop).
