So is it me? Or has Richards Persona changed completly in both time frames?
Richard, who was confirmed by Ben who has been around for a LONG time, all of a sudden seems like he has no idea what is going on and does not like the idea of the direction he is being lead into in both situations.
Here's my therory on it, and I know, its kinda strange but...
For once, he has no sense of direction, cause he has been stuck in the same timeloop for many years, and always knows the outcome. In 1977 it has always ended out the same situation. The Purge, the Incident, and the hostiles taking over. For once in his life things are changed. He meets the losties ( never did before) Ben gets shot, Daniel gets shot, he goes to detionate the bomb, he meets JOhn in 1957? as well as Daniel who bust into his camp and so on... All these things never happened to him before, so for once, he has no way to "advise" his camp into doing what normally happens. Cause to him that is the way things are set to be!
Current time Richard, is the same. Due to the flashes, and time loops things have happened, that never did before. Therefore where he is now he has no expectations to what is going to happen. John showing up with Ben and Sun, John showing him John and telling Richard to help him and John wanting to lead the camp to Richard to kill him. Richard has always had a plan based on what has always happened. So now, that things have changed for once, he has no idea what direction and what will happen next!
Ben's reaction is the same. He no longer has his usual plan. He no longer understands what will happen. These 2 are the only big connection the Island has always had. The rest of the people have died, so they do not apply. This is why Daniel's mother, told Penny for once, she has no idea what will happen. And its because of her son. Cause once Daniel interfered, everything changed. This is what she wanted, cause the loop could no longer go on. It was Daniels destiny to fix it!!!
