In this week's episode of LOST, it was revealed that Ben had faked the entire conversation between him and Jacob in the cabin, and that he couldn't explain why everything went haywire when Locke turned on the light. It was also revealed that someone else was using Jacob's cabin and so it must be burned. I believe that when Ben and Locke first visited Jacob's cabin, Esau was using the cabin for a specific purpose:
To trick John Locke. Esau knew that Ben and Locke both believed that the cabin was Jacob's home, so he moaned "Help Me" to Locke in order to trick him into thinking Jacob was asking him for help. Yet another example of Locke, a man of faith, being used to fight an age old battle between Esau and Jacob.
