A lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot of theories just keep stating that Desmond is the only one who can change the course of time, or who is not effected by it in the way others are. And it's always written as a clear fact that he can.
I know he received the "memory" from Daniel who called him uniquely special. But that was the Daniel who said that there was absolutely no way he could chance the future. I wonder how special "we're all variables" Dan thought Desmond was?
I know he saw Charlie's future, but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, that's the only person's future he ever saw. He's not psychic.
And sure he bounced around to his own past, but so did Minkowski.
Desmond I really believe has a large roll to play, and a roll that only his character will be able to fill. So does Locke, Jack, Sawyer, Hurley, etc etc etc. I don't Desmond's roll is any more or less special than anybody we've come to know. He's got his roll and he'll play it.
So enough already with the fawning of Desmond as some sort of magical character with capabilities above and beyond our other losties. He's just a guy. I love the charater, but he's no more the answer or cause of the whole puzzle than anybody else is.
