Everyone seems to be speculating that the incident is going to result in the Losties going back to the future. What if the incident blasts the Losties way into the past, and they become stuck there for a while?
I know this isn't a new thought, but I was thinking about how things might play out if they did get shifted to way back then. They would obviously still want to get back home right? How would they do that if the donkey wheel wasn't built yet?
So.... what if Daniel figures out how to manipulate the "exotic matter" on the island, and gets the original inhabitants to build the donkey wheel? That's particularly messed up when you think about the beginning of season five, when they discovered it and Daniel is looking at it, not knowing that he will be/was the person who designed it in the first place.
Of course, this might also give us some more proof that the statue is actually one of the Losties, since they would have appeared to have been like Gods given their knowledge of time and science and what not.
Let me know what you think. Theory by Kateismywife
