OK first a big apology for my last theorie's lack of paragraphs.... not my fault really once i submitted it i got a response about an error of some sort telling me to refresh the page and send the theory again. once i submitted again the theory it was too late for me to notice that it had been copied and pasted without paragrqaphs :(
Anyway i would like to post a thought that struck me after rewatching the season 3 finalle. I was suddennly under the impression that all the flashbacks of the show ACTUALLY HAPPENED WHEN WE WATCHED THEM. I mean what if all the characters in the show experienced their most important periods of their lifes as 'Flashes' the island does, not actual-for-the-viewers-to-know flashbacks? What if all the characters experience flashes like Desmond did in season 3? And by the way is that why Desmond is so uniqely special? Because he is the only one who can change his past due to the hatch implosion?
We all have seen countless characters flashbacks... This of cource has many holes as a theory but just stop for a second and think. Think of all the characters actions that first led them to board flight 815. Each of them had a special reason for being there so given that this is LOST it would not be so far-fetched to say that all the flashbacks and flashforwards may actually happen as coniciousness-travelling that may be so direct and fast that the characters never actually leave the island but experience their lifes again as flashes without even realising it? Is this why there were nosebleeds in season 5 when the flashes happened? Since the island is moving constalntly as ms Hawking said could it be possible that it also flashes people all the time? That it makes people relive their lives, give them another chance before the Cerberus System judges them like it did with Mr Eko? Of cource there were no nosebleeds for 4 seasons as we all are aware of but the island was sort! of ''working fine'' at the time, before the FDW was turned by Benjamin Linus, the O6 left..... I dont know... i mean the character flashbacks are important for the viewers to underastand the character's backgrounds but here is something i bet none of you has ever noticed!
Listen carefully as a character flashback ends...... you are right! you hear a sound almost like a flash-season 5-sound! It is pretty audible but you might take it for a simple audio special effect. But isnt it like the sound the island makes when it flashed during season 5? But as if it is 'working properly'? Like a new piece of machinery never makes loud noices during its very first uses but after a while it starts to break down, making more loud noice as the same proccess goes on and on.... are you following me? nice!
Now in season 5 the island goes bananas whith the O6 leaving and the FDW turned.. the island does not have the constants it needs to keep flashing all the characters to their past like it usually does and its starts to function abnorally! It kills people like a machine that has broken down would destroy something if it was forced to operate again after braking down! I bet i am close to finding the Long Con the producers set for us..... yes! I think they were have been parading flashbacks and flashforwards in front of us the whole time making us think that they were normal tv series flashbacks so that we get to know the characters better. But no! They made them an actual part of the show's sci-fi... Real flashes the island makes so that it's sure the people the Creberus System will judge eventually are given their proper chance.... i wonder though why no one of the characters seems to realise they are back BACK not just ''back for the viewers''... but i guess this is why w! e all like Desmond right? Because he was THE ONLY ONE who realised he was reliving his life so he could change things... be a better person so that he never ended up on the island causing all this mess..... it's all Desmond's responsibility actually.... and a heavy one since he is the only who can flashback and be aware that he is stuck in a time loop.
My entire point is this: All the characters of the show never actully left the island their entire lifes since they first arrived there. All the flashbacks and flashforwards of the show happened the time we saw them to the characters like season 5 flashes made them travel through time but on the island.... I think the island, when it works properly, uses the space time continuum in order to make the characters of the show flash back for just a mili- second island-time to their past lifes, in their most important life periods (Their Greatest Hits) so that they can change, they can fix things..... If they don't follow the rules The Cerberus System simply emerges to judge them.
When the island lost the O6 though it went crazy. It stared moving through it's own historical timeline... hoping maybe to find a time period the O6 existed?
I will leave you now to your thoughts which i am pretty sure are messed up once again... but thats the point of theorising over LOST right? Just to be proven wrong once again! But mark my words about the flashbacks and the flashforwards.... they are more than just another tv-series technique to familiarise the viewers with the characters....
Oh and a marker... not all the flashbacks end with that special noice but most of them do especially Jack's :)
