So I could be 100% wrong on this but I love nothing more than a good LOST debate and I think this could be a very good one. I dont know if this has been used before but I am basically trying to recall all of the times Ben has been on screen and I think there is a Sixth Sence thing going on here.
Off of the island do we ever see Ben interact with anybody that is not affiliated with the island? I feel like when Richard Alpert brings him into the Temple this smoke monster thing kind of projects this kid or anybody it scans into other peoples heads who have come in contact with the island.
I came to this conclusion when we see Hurly go nuts on the plane when he sees Ben. You would think a stewdress would come and see why a guy is going nuts but only Jack calms him down. Does Lipidus even recognize Ben in on the plane when he is talking to Jack.
There are only two situations that I can think off which would blow this theory out of the water. Was Ben driving a van off the island when Sun and him were going to see Eloise Hawings? Also he was bring out the stretcher to take Locke. I think he was driving but what if only the Oceanic 6 see Ben in like another persons body who is doing the islands bidding? I think something up is here because if you think logically if you get shot when your a kid and you get brought into a temple for ole' smoke to fix up I think it prolly killed him but it was able to use him as a symbol to communicat through and if lets say Charles Widmore pisses off the temple couldnt it use symbol Ben to get him off the island. I dont know what do people think I could go off all day and into other tangents.
