With Ben being seen as the bad guy after he stragled Locke to death, Charles Whitmore is being portrayed as a good guy in the newest episodes of Lost. He seemed to want to help John Locke to get back to the Island. Here is five reasons or theories as to why I think Charles Whitmore is the bad guy and not Ben.
1. Charles Whitmore's follower Matthew Abaddon takes John across the world to find the Oceanic 6 and talk them into coming back. Matthew Abaddon kept telling Locke of his failure to get anyone to listen to him about going back to the island and eventually talked to Locke about what Richard told him he would have to do to get the Oceanic 6 back to the Island. Whitmore never even had any desire to help Locke. He was only driving Locke to commit suicide. Ben on the other hand knew that John could not kill himself. John had to be killed by someone to make it possible for him to go back to the island. If John killed himself that would not be considered a sacrifice.
2. Charles Whitmore sent his mercenary team to torch the island and kill everyone on it. That could be the reason for the H-bomb seen in the episode "Jughead." Keamy and his clan knew where the bomb was and were going to set it off to kill everyone on the island.
3. In the episode "Cabin Fever" Ben tells Hurley that he did not kill the Dharma Initiative. The one responsible for killing the Dharma people was the leader of the others. Hence, Whitmore told John Locke in "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham" that he was the leader of the others before Ben tricked him off the island. I believe that Ben helped the others but was not the mastermind behind the massacre of the Dharma people. Whitmore ordered the massacre on the Dharma Initiative himself as the leader.
4. And have you noticed that Richard does not seem to like Whitmore by his facial reactions when Charles name is mentioned around him. Richard knows that Charles Whitmore is an evil guy and will do anything in his power to stop Charles from gaining control of the island again.
5. John was told to move the island because of Whitmore's team on the boat. If the island is telling John that the people on the boat are bad, Charles Whitmore is bad.
Whitmore is the one who needs to be eliminated. Ben just kinda evil and needs to continue to get the crap beat out of him. What are your thoughts on these theories? Theory by Vishuamon
