First of all guys you must read 'The Four-Toed Statue is a statue of Sawyer by Omar Rana'(http://theoriesonlost.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2009-01-31T11:38:00Z&max-results=15) for I wouldn't have thought of this without reading that theory.....
Right then, stemming from what Omar Rana said about sawyer being the 4 toed statue, the name James originally is a variant of the name Jacob. This could be pure coincidence but in the Hebrew Bible, Jacob had 12 sons. This could relate to 'Lost_Dbutz' theory 'Be Here Now, Be Nowhere' (http://theoriesonlost.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2009-02-03T16:32:00Z&max-results=15). It mentions that the earth has 12 vortices. After a little research, the 12 vortices of the earth are closely associated to the Bermuda triangle, renowned for mysterious disappearances hence oceanic flight 815. Another coincidence possibly is one of Jacobs' sons was called Benjamin.
Relating this to Sawyer is simple. The meaning of the name James or Jacob is 'the supplanter'. The definition of supplanter is..."one who wrongfully or illegally seizes and holds the place of another ". This reflects on Sawyer when he lies to Horace about how he got to the island, resulting in Sawyer or La Fleur adopting the role of head of security at the dharma initiative.
According to Jewish texts, Jacob was the third and last patriarch which suggests Sawyer as the 3rd leader after Ben, then Locke. As well as having 12 sons, Jacob also had 1 daughter. Sawyer also has a baby daughter which we found out way back so there could be a link there. So, Jacob had 13 children and this sounds ridiculous and it is probably sheer coincidence but look at these pictures for season 5 of lost.....

Both pictures have 13 people in them. Again, this is probably coincidence.
What does everyone think? Also, in the second picture, why is Daniel Faraday missing his left foot? Theory by Luke Boxall
