Well i don't this is a place to put a theory. If anyone know where to put the theory only on forums.
First of all this is my First theory that putting on DARK UFO
Ok this is small but it's a big part of the LOST ok.
So the ones who are dead can travel to the future or past and they can collect information from it and so they know things what will happen. So when people walk in to jungle or somewhere they try to warn them what is about to happen. So the ones who're alive just ignores them sometime. Then they don't know this is serious and ghosts have to warn them if they don't something will happen so very wrong so then ghosts take some action and uses the Black Smoke to form into loved ones or someone else so they can talk to that person who's about in danger and talks out of it.

Like i said when young Ben about to gets in to sonic barrier fence protecting barracks suddenly Ben's mothers ghost uses the Black Smoke and forms in to human figure so Ben's mother said stop and warned young Ben.

Also in the first place when Jack first sees his father on the island first time so then Smokey led Jack into the caves so it was just a part of a plan that Jacob made it and suddenly Jack found an water good thing right. Well i think Jacob trying best he could to lead Jack and doing things by his orderly plan. So Jacob doesn't want any trouble like he did before hundreds of time in this messed up Time Loop that he trying to stop or protect whatever is he doing. So just when Jacob is trying to do whatever is he doing or leading everybody on this island to what to do out of nowhere like John Locke and Boone finds an Hatch and from that moment Jacob is trying everything as he could to stop them from opening the hatch like Walt says to Locke "Don't open that thing... Just don't open it" ok so there's a plenty of things that cause trouble when Jacob is doing his job like ghosts on the island Boone Shannon etc has a care for there living loved ones on the island also there's ghos! t's from the out of the island. So these ghosts actually don't always do things Jacob says some of them follows order of Jacob some of em don't. But they're afraid to do it cause Jacob will know so i believe that's why those ghost whisper and always pops out and do things there's something that these ghosts afraid to use Black Smoke to warn the loved ones or someone. I think Jacob don't allow them to use it or just ghosts find the way to warn loved ones ghosts always whisper they afraid to shown.
One more thing Vincent is black smoke not a ghost that using black smoke it's just a Black Smoke that formed in to dog that delivering Jacobs message to Walt and Walt just tells John because Locke is the only one that can help Jacob. Also Walt mentioned to Shannon that he always talks to vincent.
