So, this is the first time I've ever tried to post anything but I figured I would give this a try. I believe that Sawyer will end up being Jacob.
For the last several seasons, including this season's premiere, we've seen at least two scenes in which Sawyer gets something in his foot, (ie: dart). What if this is foreshadowing that at one point, Sawyer loses a toe. Since he is currently time flipping to and fro in the present and the past, if he arrives to a time where just the original inhabitants are on the island, they could look upon Sawyer as a god. This could then explain the four-toed statue that was erected on the island. Sawyer would then become the island's god, which could easily be thought of as Jacob.
Of course, this is one of the only pieces of evidence that I have. But think about this, for almost every season, Sawyer has tried to get off of the island and has been stopped every time. Season 1: Walt was kidnapped and Sawyer was shot. Season 4: He sacrificed his escape so so the helicopter wouldn't crash.
Sawyer is also one of the only ones who knew Christian Shepard, having met him at the bar. Whenever Jacob needed Jack to do something, he could have sent Christian Shepard to Jack. He also knew that Kate is not Aaron's mother. Also, if you thought that about any initiation tests that needed to be past by the island, remember that Sawyer was the real one who killed Locke's father. Sawyer really passed the test, not Locke.
My theory is that Sawyer is Jacob and that Jacob is desperately trying to escape. The best man for that job is Locke. That's why Richard Alpert was trying to recruit Locke in the past when Locke was a boy. Sawyer told him to. It also means why the island is trying to get the 06 back. Sawyer is trying to change the past by getting the 06 to have never left the island.
So, that's my theory, it's my first. I just think it's interesting.
