I dont know what the end game in lost is, or anything else for that matter. but i do have a theory on why locke left the island. this maybe considerd some what of a paradox but bear with me. if lost is about saving the world and stopping the end of mankind then this theory will make sence. ok, we know john locke left the island and visited the o6 telling them they had to return. i dont consider this a spoiler, the producers have already said the o6 will return to the island sooner rather than later. so what if when jack and the o6 return only a couple of weeks island time has passed even though they have been home for 3 years. jack may see locke on the island and be shocked hes alive. someone, (probably faraday) will xplain the time thing to the o6. jack will realise locke does not know he is dead in the future and also that locke will not know it was him who told the o6 they had to come back. think about it, we ! know the connection locke has with the island (he calls it home) why would he ever leave? i think jack tells locke that he had visited him off the island and told him to return. jack will tell locke he has to leave the island to get the o6 back. when locke says your already here jack will say we wouldnt be if you had not come and told us to return. jack will show locke his dead body and tell him its his destiny to leave the island, warn the o6 and die. locke will finally believe jack and be happy jacks accepting his own destiny. locke will leave the island to go and see the o6 and warn them in the future even though there on the island in the past. if this is right then the world can not end because both will have to continually pass each others messages on though time. i believe jack is lockes constant and vice vesa. well that my theory and im sure it will be proved wrong by episode 6 of season 5 but thats the beauty of lost. i also think the last scene ever in season 6 wi! ll be jack watching oceanic 815 being boarded and taking off
