Right... the opening scene of Season 5 includes a scene where Marvin Candle, below The Orchid, explains to an engineer that if they drill ever one centimetre further, they risk destroying everything... we then see Daniel Faraday bump past him, carrying some sort of canister... (a gas canister perhaps? The kind that could blow a hole in that wall that they're trying to drill through...?)
At the end of episode 2, Mrs Hawkings tells Ben something similar - they have 70 hours to either get back to the island or to be ready to go back "or god help us all"...
I think that these 2 things tie together.
I don't believe that Daniel is evil... or that he's "from the past"... my theory is that we'll be seeing that opening scene again in a later episode... I believe that Daniel will, while the others are milling about with the DI, go there .. perhaps he thinks that getting in there will be the key to stopping the island from skipping, by turning the wheel the same way that Ben did?
Except ... if Candle is right ... that could then put everybody and the island at risk ... and that is what Hawkings is referring to...Theory by Bon
