This is more like a sub-theory, I guess, but here it is.
When Hugo decided officially that he was going to lose weight (all this was influenced by Libby), there was, within moments, a mysterious food drop from DI.
At first, it seemed that DI was still making food drops for its people. Then others suggested that the drop was the result of a weird time loop on the island.
It is neither of those. It is yet another indication of course-correction. Hugo is meant to be a big man. It is part of his destiny. Had he chose to lose weight, perhaps he wouldn't have been ditched by everyone and forced to drive the VW into the fight and save everyone. Remember, he got told to go back because of his weight. Never explicitly, but passively.
The food drop being a creation of course-correction might sound wacky, but, isn't it also a little wacky that Michael loaded a gun, put it to his head, and pulled the trigger? A BUNCH? And yet the gun wouldn't fire?!
Libby's death was also course correction, for she was going to change Hugo, or at least heavily influence his decisions, and would therefore, at least according to the island, DI, whoever, etc, be deviating from his destiny.
Or at least what his "intended" destiny is. Free will is ever the wild card in LOST.
