Here's something to consider which could explain a lot of the "stranger" mysteries on Lost.
Time Travellers.
So... Locke was wheelchair bound when he set off on the flight but could walk when the plane crashed. How? What if ... someone went back in time and stopped his father from pushing him out of that window?
Locke's kidney, or lack thereof, saved his life... maybe someone went back and orchestrated this?
Richard Alpert didn't seem to age from when Ben first met him to present day. Perhaps Richard had been travelling back in time to meet Ben in order to manipulate him in some way?
What if all the coincidences that we're seeing on the show are due to time travellers... Locke's "dad", Richard Alpert, Christian, Calvin, etc etc.
And... end of season six... what if Lost goes the typical way of these kind of shows and reverts all the "changes" that people have been making to the timeline... so the Losties never got on that plane, Desmond never got on the boat, etc etc......
Pretty daft idea, I know... but plausible?
