I sorry if anyone has previously posted this theory, but its something i've been thinking since just before Alexandra Rousseau-Linus died in "The Shape of Things to Come". It's relative to us finding out what the hell happened to The Crazy French Chick in her past.
The only way we are going to find out what happened is if someone else has a flashback. I'm hoping that we get a Richard or Ben flashback soon, which chronicles the time when Rousseau's boat crashed on the Island and Ben and the Others monitor the group.
However, i think that what Rousseau told us in previous episodes (about how her crew became sick and endangered her and her baby's health) was wrong. i think Ben's line in 4x09 was very telling -
"i stole [Alex] from an insane woman"
i think that Rousseau's group from the Black Rock was not sick at all, but in fact it was Danielle who had the illness. she might have had some sort of sickness that caused her to hallucinate and believe that everyone else was a dangerous health risk to her and Alex.
oblivious to her wrongful judgment, Rousseau killed them, thinking they were sick. Ben and Richard analyse her behaviour and decide that she is not fit to raised a child. This would then tie in with what Ben said when Keamy had Alex at gunpoint.
