Okay... I knoew we've seen a lot of theories on the new gamechanger, but this is something I don't think I've read before.
I believe that what we saw on the freighter during Cabin Fever occurred BEFORE Keamy killed Alex at the Barracks.
IE: Keamy killed Alex on the island on December 27th 2004 ("The Shape of Things to Come"), but didn't leave the freighter to do this on December 28th 2004 ("Cabin Fever"), being thrown back in time to December 26th/27th, ready to kill Alex and lead the mission to storm the Barracks. Keamy didn't then leave the island to come back to the freighter as we are led to believe (as the only time he left the freighter was to storm the Barracks, as this is set 'before' he killed Alex, but it's happening, due to timeshift at the same time as the events on the island AFTER Alex's murder) - he's still on the island with his team waiting to kill. This would also solve Doctor Ray's death.
So, onto the new flashforwards in the finale/next season!
In the finale, we will see the Oceanic 6 off-island trying to get back on-island. It's been two or three years since they left, and we're gonna see ALL the missing scenes we have not yet seen, completely finishing the Oceanic 6 off-island storyline.
On-island, we see the Oceanic 6 leave. We then see two year's worth of "The Other 48 Days"-style flashforwards (actually bridging the gap as it's all shown from as if it's the present), of the two years the Oceanic 6 have been gone. We'll mix those up with the flash-forwards of the Oceanic 6. But after those two years, the outlook looks grim - the only survivors are Locke, Ben, Sawyer, Claire, Miles, Daniel and Faraday versus hundreds (across the years) of Widmore's men.
Then the Oceanic 6 return, we think.
The twist?
We will see the first 2-3 years of the battle as the on-island story. We think that's it - they've only been fighting for as long as the Oceanic 6 left the island. And then the Oceanic 6 return...we think they've arrived two or three years after they left, but really the island has moved on by 8 years (as time moves faster there than off-island), flashing the story forwards 5/6 years (ie - we've only seen the first 2-3 years of the battle, but as time is moving faster, we still have another 5-6 years to catch up on!)... While many theories state that the island is moving slower than the rest of the world, I'm saying it moves faster. I have no basis for this other than the Doctor Ray thing.
Next season will be filling in the gaps of those 5-6 years by the eyes of the folks left behind.
