As much as I'd love to go into detail about how amazing this episode was I'm going to be quick and jump straight into the theory.
Two week's ago, we learned from Ben that Charles Widmore is behind the appearance of the freighter and is also his "nemesis". Many, including myself began to speculate that it was Widmore himself who planted the pseudo-815 in the middle of the ocean. However, last week we were informed by everyone's new favorite Aussie, Captain Gault, that it was not Widmore but Ben who placed the fake plane in the water. And this episode, to me, was all about who was telling the truth. I kept going back and forth on my decision throughout the episode. Tom would lead me to believe it was Widmore; Lapidus would get me to think it was Ben. But it was Ben's words to Michael that sealed the deal for me. (Forgive me, I do not have DVR so I can't go back and get the actual Quotes) Something about how Widmore killed with no reason and how he "Never killed innocent people". Now, there are plenty of ways we could all call false on this statement. Obviously Ben killed his father, and he sent Goo! dwin to his death... and so on and so on. The point is, I believe that in Ben's twisted little mind he actually believes in what he is saying. It made me want to trust Ben. Trust that what he does is for the greater good; evil deeds for good outcomes in the long run. I'm convinced now that it was Widmore who faked 815.
And now, for the other big "Who done it" of the night. Who the heck shot Danielle and Carl? I have to put all my egg-towns in the same DHARMA Basket on this one. At this point in the show we know where almost every main character is. We know all the Losties that are with Jack and Kate. We know all the people at the Barracks with Locke. We know all of Ben's people are at the Temple. And we know all the people that are on the Freighter, except one. Where oh where did Frank Lapidus go on his faithful mission? His helicopter could not have made it back to any land but the island. No one has seen him sense. Don't forget all his secrets about being on Desmond and Sayid's side... Something fishy is going on with this Hawaiian T-shirt-wearing chopper pilot. Now I know, my theory basically explains in, black and white, why Lapidus will probably be suspect primero uno; which in the world of LOST means I'm wrong. But at this point we do not have much else to speculate on. So tell m! e, what do you think?
