I don’t like to toot my own horn, but this was the theory I came up with in November 2006. Well, I guess I do like to toot my own horn.

Anyways, my previous idea of the island as the last outpost of above-water geology in the far future still holds true, but who are the players in this story? To this point, we've been introduced to two groups of Others. The Dharma Initiative is the most transparent, while the preexisting-ageless-wonder island-dwellers have yet to be expanded upon. I'd like to think that the original inhabitants of the island (the latter) are the last survivors of the planet earth, perhaps hundreds or thousands of years into the future. In the the year, let's posit 2100, global warming and disease have led to a rise in water levels and a wipe out of 99.9 percent of the human race. They have formed a community on the top of what was a mountain in Antarctica and what is now one of the last islands remaining on earth.
Suddenly, they have visitors.
The Dharma Initiative is a secret scientific exploration into time travel and the predicted future, begun by a consortium of moneyed people and scientists shortly after 1996. They begin by opening a wormhole that takes them to the far future. The unfortunate consequence is that the wormhole doesn't close neatly, and the Dharma Initiative finds it necessary to develop a large machine in the present and the future (a constant) to emit an electromagnetic charge in order to sew the tear in the space time continuum. Meanwhile, they continue to populate and civilize the island/mountain top, all the while finding that it is impossible to procreate in the far future with women from the past, as the babies experience pre-partum lack of a constant, and therefore die.
Meanwhile, a Dharma father brings his son Ben to the experimental future island, and Ben grows up and decides to kill the members of the Dharma Initiative in order to not interfere with the original members of the island. Ben is a guru, and understands more about the island's post-Dharma Initiative results than any other member of the Dharma Initiative. In fact, he finds Jacob, the king of the time traveling mountain. He is someone who is one step ahead of everyone in terms of time travel, and who is incredibly alone and cannot resolve his dilemma of being stuck in the nadir/zenith of time travel. The only thing he can do is ask for help.
Along comes Locke. He is the only other person that can see or hear Jacob. He also has a special communion with the island. Ben is intimidated by this and has done everything he can to belittle, frustrate and downplay (and shoot in the stomach!) his competition. Alas, Locke is nearly invincible, although a flawed leader.
Jack's group (S04E05) is following reason. And reason with this multi dimensioned spot in the universe will only last for so long. After that, One had better start lying to One's self.
Anyways, I've got more where that came from. If anyone has bothered to brave through this sludge (including my previous post) and wants to know more of what I think is going to happen, just respond. All others should ignore until 2009.
